How to Enhance the Employee Productivity?

What should you do if members of your team are not as productive as you would anticipate, despite the fact that all of the fundamentals are in place? Here are some suggestions to assist you in developing a strategy.

Encourage and praise

  • Utilize the carrot rather than the stick. Praise for productivity makes the employee feel good and communicates to the rest of the team that you value hard effort and excellent results.
  • Consider how you may provide support and encouragement to someone who is completing a difficult task. It will serve as a reminder to them that you believe in them.
  • According to a Harvard Business School research, praise encourages employees by reflecting their 'best selves' and enabling them to understand the worth and significance of their job.

Give people some downtime

  • While giving employees time off to increase their productivity may seem counterintuitive, it makes sense if the time off allows them to recuperate and re-energize.
  • It is unquestionably true that we cannot perform at our best when we are burned out. Sometimes the simplest things are the most important — 66 percent of US workers feel they would be better employees if they had more sleep, according to a Glassdoor survey.

Define the objectives

  • That adage about splitting a large task into manageable chunks? It is applicable here. While it may seem self-evident to you, the team member may not fully understand your expectations for their position, and you may need to be more precise about the fundamentals.
  • Ascertain that the employee understands what you require of them, when you require it, and how you require it. Make it apparent that kids can ask questions and receive useful answers if they are unsure about something. Establish long- and short-term goals with the employee and ensure they understand the measures necessary to reach them.

Create competition

  • We are social animals, and we enjoy being a member of a group. We also want to compete and be the best inside that group. Incorporating some friendly rivalry into the work environment, coupled with suitable rewards, may help encourage an underperforming person who feels disconnected from their job. However, you'll want to exercise caution in this instance.

Incentivize

  • Many organizations rely on the approach of tying rewards and benefits to output. However, upon deeper examination, it appears that the manner in which your incentive program is implemented can make or break its efficacy.
  • Alfie Kohn demonstrated in the 1990s how incentives can impact our short-term behavior but cannot give long-term motivation. It's an analysis he's still delving into more than two decades later. Incentives must be aligned with a broader employee engagement program that ensures people are engaged, respected, and listened to in addition to being rewarded.

Work Place Optimization

  • There are basic, cost effective steps that  HR department of any type of firm may take to assist their employees in being a little more productive.
    • Adjust lighting
    • Ensure employees are sitting comfortably
    • Set the perfect temperature
    • Reduce noise levels
    • Support flexible working
    • Encourage healthy eating choices
    • Invest in employee happiness
    • Provide the right technology

                  7. According to Sharma and Sharma (2014), employee productivity is based on the amount of time that an employee is physically present at his/ her job, besides the extent to which he/ she is “mentally present” , or efficiently working during the presence at the job.
Companies should address such issues in order to ensure high worker productivity.
